Here's a great treadmill workout to try. It's from my friend Elza who's a personal trainer in NYC. She has 3 kids, is in her late 50's and has an AMAZING body!
Here's the thing. I tried this workout and I loved it. HOWEVER, might I suggest you don't do this workout for the first time in a crowded gym (especially one that has cranky old men who scream and yell and embarrass you when you drop a weight on your foot--I'm not kidding and then after cursing at me he had the audacity to file a complaint for illegal use of weights?! Thank God the director had her thinking cap on and reminded Mr. Cranky-pants that the Y is about fellowship of (wo)man and screaming "Are you F-ing crazy" does not fit their mission or their desire to have said whacky-man continue membership...).
At any rate, if you are more coordinated than me you might like this workout (and by that I mean, if you can chew gum and walk you are most likely more coordinated than me--as hubby likes to say when our 13 month takes a tumble, "ah, she's as graceful as mommy..."). Really, I actually do like this workout, but now I only do it at home!
TREADMILL WORKOUT WITH HAND WEIGHTS
Using 2, 3, or 5 lb. weights (dumbbells) for the entire workout
0:00-5:00 Walk at 3.0mph with no incline (weights in hand)
5:00-6:30 Increase speed to 4mph, increase incline to 4%
6:30-7:30 Increase incline to 6%, throw hooks (wide punches, toward the center of the body) alternating left & right arms
7:30-8:30 Lower the incline to 3% and walk with your arms at your side
8:30-9:00 Increase incline to 8% throw alternating right and left hooks
9:00-10:00 Lower incline to 3% and walk with arms at sides
10:00-30:00 Do 5 more sets of "punch" cycles (see minutes 6:30-10:00)
30:00-35:00 Cool down by walking at an easy pace (3mph to 3.5mph) with no incline
Don't forget to stretch!
***You may find it helpful to type this out on a little card and tape it to the treadmill (it's one less thing that can lead to the dreaded dropping of the weights & horrid run-in with the gym's resident crab-apple).

This workout looks good, but since we are still in summer I prefer to walk on the streets.
I will save it to use during winter, it's always good to have something different otherwise the treadmill gets boring very easily.
Thanks for the tip.
