The show started this week with a challenge: if the group of 15 could pull a cumulative 150 pound weight loss no one would go home (but if they couldn't, then TWO people would be eliminated). As you can see from the title of this post, obviously no one was eliminated. It seemed a bit touch and go for awhile....but the group met and exceeded their goal, losing a total of 155 pounds. Which means that next week is going to be rather dismal (it will be worst than most week 2's, if not the worst week ever in Biggest Loser history--yikes! I'm starting to sound like Chris Harrison from The Bachelor!
Other highlights of the show include celebrity chef (the Aussie hottie) Curtis Stone sharing tips for cooking and eating healthier.
- 5 ways to cook without oil: bake, paoch, broil, grill, steam
- When making pasta, cook 1/2 pasta & 1/2 veggies (like slivered zucchini, or spaghetti squash)--it can reduce the calories by nearly 250!
- Soda is loaded with sugar and calories (duh!), 1 16 oz. soda with 3 refills adds up to 747 calories!
- A yummy dessert that is less than 150 calories is fresh raspberries topped with 1/2 oz melted dark chocolate
- Eat 3 meals and 2 snacks throughout the day
- Incorporate some type of protein with your snacks to feel fuller and give more fuel for your muscles
- Appropriate serving sizes for meat, fish, chicken is 3-4 oz. A typical restaurant gives you a 16 oz. steak--which is 4 times a normal portion!
- The average caesar salad from a fast food restaurant has over 1000 calories--you're better off with a burger and fries!
- Fun dessert--pineapples skewers on the grill, dipped in non-fat yogurt.
The contestants won 2 different challenges. The first was a quiz after Curtis' presentation--they earned a 15 lb. advantage toward the weigh-in. They also had a balance challenge and the they earned a 20 lb. advantage as well as the coveted phone calls home. Might I say that these phone calls were particularly sad. I can't stand to watch a man cry--it starts the waterworks up in me! Sean found out that the baby his wife is expecting is a girl.
******BREAKING NEWS: Jillian Michaels announced on her Twitter account tonight that Sean and his wife named their babygirl Jillian May--her namesake! ************
The last chance workout tonight was a killer--I was sore just watching! Jillian and Bob kicked everybody's butt hard....like I said, next weeks number will decidedly be dismal....the body needs to play catch up at some point.
The pink team continued to show low numbers, with Amanda only losing 4 pounds again. But some huge numbers were pulled by Julio (19 lbs!), Shay (16), & Rudy (14).
