So I woke up today and felt great! Then I stepped on the scale--how the hell could I gain 2 lbs after yesterday?! I will not be a slave to the scale, so with the same enthusiasm as day 1, I garnered my strength, sealed myself of outside pressure and set out to eat my cleanse food. Now, this is very unprescribed, meaning that I don't have a specific food I must eat at a certain time, rather a list of foods. Basically, it's a detox diet that is :
- Gluten Free
- Dairy Free
- Meat/Poultry Free
- Caffeine Free
- Sugar Free
- Nut free (seeds allowed)
I decided to go with what I had yesterday for BREAKFAST: 1 cup brown rice, 1 granny smith apple sliced and baked, cinamon.
I didn't even get a chance to finish breakfast when I had to rush the kids out the door to school. Joy of joys it's a special day for the little one at preschool--she gets to bring in all her favorite toys and talk about them and they have a snack of Challah bread, cream cheese, juice, cheese, fruit & brownies. This isn't our first one and as you might guess--I LOVE this food and love eating it. But I resisted the urge, stayed the course, and stayed on program!
For LUNCH: 2 cups of carrot ginger soup (I could get use to eating that everyday-truly one of the yummiest things I've eaten that is also actually healthy!--One caveat, I need to make sure it's okay to eat because it actually has cashews in it, it the title. I haven't called the nutritionist yet to check--it's just so yummy that I'm having trouble thinking about letting the soup go!)
Late Afternoon Snack: brown rice california roll--i think this is allowed. have to be honest, not loving the california rolls as much as i use to...I am starting to prefer spicy tuna, but I know the spicy sauce isn't allowed.
It was around this time that I realized I hadn't drank nearly enough water yet--I had had a good amount, just not the 8-12 glasses I had intended to drink....
Went for an early evening run--I felt good, I had energy and I felt hydrated. 3.5 miles-check!
So tonight was the first dinner I prepared for my family that I tried to assimilate to my detox cleanse. It went pretty well. The girls like Quinoa, and fish and well, I figured I'd try my luck with some veggies.
DINNER: 2 oz. cod, 1 cup quinoa (red & white mixed), 1 cup sauteed bok choy (in 1 tsp sesame oil & sea salt), 1 cup snow peas (steamed with 1 tsp tamari, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, 1 tsp sesame seeds)
After dinner it was movie night with the kids. My husband unveils the 3 bottles of wine he just picked up. 'Can't do it!' I tell him! He goes on to drink the entire bottle of Reisling. The kids want popcorn, with butter. No and no. I warm up the following:
Evening Snack: 2 cups of steamed broccoli (yep, no kidding).
All in all a good day, I don't feel hungry. I must say it's very hard to have everyone else enjoying some of my favorite things (brownies, wine, popcorn) and not be able to partake. But hey, just 1 more week! And I'm SO looking forward to my first cup of coffee in nearly 3 months when we get to San Francisco a week from tomorrow!!!

Good stuff as per usual, thanks. I do hope this kind of thing gets more exposure.

So I feed the kids...and keep thinking. I don't have the industrial-strength juicer from my brother yet. But I will hopefully tomorrow. That does not help the fact that it's now 9AM and I have not eaten breakfast. Water. Nope...gotta eat something. Lentil soup is on the list.

I must admit I didn't think Toy Story 3 would be worth the wait but I think the movie delivered. Very good movie and a touching ending that even made me tear up.. just a tiny bit. :)

Quite a few of the details associated with this write-up are good nevertheless had me wondering, did they truly suggest that? One thing I have got to point out is certainly your publishing abilities are very excellent and I will probably be coming back again for any new blog post you make, you may possibly have a new fan.
